From the past times until now, ambassadors who were sent to other countries with political and economic goals presented gifts after loading. With the rise of the Safavids and the expansion of foreign relations, especially with the Ottoman government, offering gifts maintained their importance as before. In the current research, we are looking for an answer to this question by using the official sources and travelogues of the Europeans with the analytical descriptive method, after the Safavids came to power and the beginning of political relations with the Ottoman government, what were the purposes of gifts and the careful selection of their types? The findings of the research indicate that giving gifts directly and indirectly affected Iran-Ottoman relations. In this way, in the direct relations between the Safavid kings and the Ottoman sultans, gifts were given for the purpose of threatening, humiliating, showing authority, appeasing, peace and handing over refugees. On the other hand, gifts were indirectly used in Safavid relations with European countries in order to unite against the common enemy (Ottoman), and in these relations, intelligence in choosing the type of gifts was especially important.
