Abstract

The study and analysis of articles published in academic journals represent one of the emerging scholarly approaches that have garnered increasing attention due to the growing volume of scientific publications. Among the prominent journals in the field of the history of Islam and the Ahl al-Bayt (the Prophet's Household) is the quarterly journal Sokhan-e Tarikh (Discourse on History). This research provides the journal's editorial board and policymakers with an opportunity to evaluate its content-related progress and shortcomings, thereby enabling them to direct their scholarly efforts more purposefully and to explore emerging thematic areas. Accordingly, the primary objective of this study is to examine and analyze the articles published in this quarterly journal. The research employed a content analysis methodology, utilizing Excel software to investigate 167 articles published in issues 18 through 41 of this journal. The findings reveal that the majority of articles were co-authored, with male authors demonstrating significantly higher participation rates than their female counterparts. In terms of institutional affiliation, faculty members from Al-Mustafa International University constituted the largest group of contributing authors, and the most prolific individual authors were identified. Furthermore, assistant professors and other faculty members (academic staff) exhibited the highest levels of scholarly engagement. Geographically, the thematic focus predominantly centered on the Islamic world and Iran. In terms of subject matter, intellectual and political issues were found to be particularly prevalent. Consequently, recommendations such as publishing special issues, releasing editions in Arabic or English, and paying greater attention to social topics were proposed as potential strategies to enhance the journal's overall quality.
