The Reasons behind Success of Alids and Sayyids in Establishing Islamic - Shi’ite Government

Abstract

Alids and Sayyids have established different governments in the history of
Islam. However instead of analyzing their achievements in Islamic and
Shi’ite governments, generally their failures and downfalls were analyzed.
As a result only limited number of works have reviewed and represented the
reasons behind their success in establishing governments. Therefore, the
question raised here is: What are the reasons behind the success of Alids and
Sayyids in establishing Islamic and Shi’ite governments throughout history
of Islam? (Question) It is appears the mutual relation and role between the
function and actions of Alids and Sayyids with people in the realm of
politics and power was the noteworthy element in their success. (Hypothesis)
The goal of the present paper is to demonstrate the role of elements such as
seeking justice, fighting against tyranny, religious democracy, resistance,
acknowledging potential, regarding Ahl al-Bayt as the main principle,
meritocracy, allegiance and political participation among Shi’ite were
regarded highly important in establishing governments. (Goal) The present
paper is carried out by means of library study and also studying first-hand
sources on the history of Islam and also applying recent research sources.
(Methodology) Introducing a new attitude and approach in analyzing
historical aspiration in establishing government among Shi’a Muslims is the
finding of the paper. (Finding)
