Abstract
Medical University of Jundishapoor has a high position in medical history of the world. Prominent achievements of the University, its faculty and graduates, have had such an effect on the world of medicine history that we can count it as an especial school. Historical reports about its plentiful and effective educational functions on transferring medical science, distinct and historical curative role in Iran and the world and also its prides in the field of research and presenting worthy scientific works especially reference medical books, imply its prominent scientific position. This study deal with reasons of descending position of Jundishapoor University after centuries of scientific authority in contrast with another universities and scientific centers in Iran and the world in an analytic-descriptive method. One of the strong forte of this study is a comprehensive view on scientific position of Jundishapoor medical school and it not only emphasizes on Iranian- Islamic identity, but is a resource for scientific programmers and political enforcers to revive successful and helpful pattern of Islamic civilization.
