There are many reports about the time of Imam Sajjad's death in Shia and Sunni sources; In such a way that this issue has the biggest difference compared to other imams. This matter applies not only to the year, but also to the month and day of death. There are about twenty reports about this in Shia (Imami, Zaidi and Ismaili) and Sunni sources. In addition, the cause of death is another controversial issue about Imam Sajjad (PBUH). The question is: which reports are the most repeated and famous in these sources? What is the meaningful relationship between them? Is it possible to present an idea about the reason for the death of him based on historical evidence? Analysis of the reports shows that the lunar year 94 in the Sunni sources, the lunar year 95 in the Shia sources and Muharram-ul-Haram are famous in both groups. It is not possible to know about the day of death. But in Shiite sources, 25th of Muharram has been given more attention. Although there is no direct historical report about the cause of death, But based on the historical course of Umayyad interactions with Imam Sajjad (PBUH), martyrdom is more likely.
